Silica gel SG6 - mix with moisture indicator
Silikagel SG6 is a very effective desiccant that is great for protecting your 3D printing filaments from moisture. This product contains an eco-friendly moisture indicator that changes color, making it easy to monitor silica gel saturation.

Key benefits and uses
Visual moisture indication: the beads change color depending on the amount of moisture absorbed, making it easy to monitor saturation. Orange indicates a dry condition, while green indicates that the silica gel is saturated with moisture.
High absorption capacity: an active surface area of approximately 800 m²/g ensures efficient moisture absorption, which is key to maintaining the quality of the filaments.
Suitable for protecting not only filaments but also electronics, optical components and other sensitive materials.
Reusable: regeneration is possible either in an oven at 110 °C or in a microwave.
Versatile use: the beads can be easily placed in different containers such as bags, cans, bowls or buckets, allowing them to be used in a variety of environments.

Technical specifications
Bead diameter: 2-5 mm (over 80% of beads)
Bulk density: 620-700 g/l
Absorbency:
At 20% relative humidity: approx. 11.0%
At 50% relative humidity: approx. 25.5%
At 90% RH: approx. 36.0%
PH: 4-6
Pore diameter: 2.0-3.0 nm
Pore volume: 0.35-0.45 ml/g

Humidity indication by colour change
Silica gel SG6 contains a 1:20 mixture of orange and transparent silica gel, with the orange silica gel serving as a moisture indicator. The colour changes at different humidity levels are as follows:

0% relative humidity: Orange
8% RH: Yellow-brown (at 20°C, min. 20% RH)
20% RH: Brown-green (at 20°C, min. 50% RH)
30% RH: Green (at 20°C, min. 90% RH)

Versatile Use: The beads can be easily placed in a variety of containers such as bags, cans, bowls or buckets, allowing them to be used in a variety of environments.

Silica gel SG6 is a reliable solution for moisture control in your 3D printing environment. Its ability to visually indicate moisture saturation along with its high adsorption capacity makes it an ideal choice for protecting filaments and other sensitive materials from moisture.

Regeneration and reuse
Silica gel SG6 can be easily regenerated, making it an economical and environmentally friendly choice for long-term use.

In an electric or gas oven
Optimum temperature: 120-160°C
Regeneration time: Depends on the amount of silica gel

Procedure:

Water from silica gel starts to evaporate at temperatures above 110°C. Regeneration is complete when the silica gel no longer vapours.

In a microwave oven
Power: 600W
Time: Approximately 3 minutes per 100g of wet silica gel
Procedure:

Use a 200°C temperature-resistant container that is not metal or plastic (preferably cooking glass or ceramic).
Allow approximately 3 minutes for every 100g of moist silica gel.
Visually check that steam is still forming. Continue only if steam is rising.
If you continue even when steam is no longer forming, the silica gel may heat up to 240°C, which may cause it to crack and possibly rupture the container.
If you are using silica gel with an indicator, the orange colour will only appear after it has cooled down.
Tip: After regeneration, allow the silica gel to cool before using it again.
